    The official Studentpilot.com Burke Lakefront Fly-in 2009!

    Mark your calendars!

    Reserve the planes!

It's that time of year again...

    Burke Lakefront Fly-in (KBKL)

    June 20, 2009

Hornblowers is still closed, and I am not sure another place has opened up there, yet. I am sure there are some other options of places to eat there. It is right in Downtown Cleveland. It might be a little bit of a walk, but we will find some places (More on this to come).

This is the type of airport we should all be supporting and flying to when we can. Just like Meigs Field in Chicago, this airport is at risk for closing due to limited use. Luckily they hold the Cleveland Airshow there. The Cleveland Grand Prix is typically held there, but this year, they aren't doing it.

The date has been set for June 20th.

We usually try to meet at the airport between 11:00am and Noon and then head someplace to have lunch. Then after lunch there are lots of options of things to do around downtown.

Options of things to do right next to the airport (walking distance):

    Great Lakes Science Center

Goodtime 3 - Lake and River Cruise

    Rock-n-Roll hall of Fame

Cleveland Browns Stadium . We might be able to arrange a tour.

    USS Cod Submarine

and I'm sure there are more things too...

I'll probably end up bumming around with HIGHWing at the Columbia, but just in case, I've booked the plane.

Like soulie, I may also try to hitch a ride with HW, but I have a Cessna 172SP (N2100S) reserved for the day just in case.

And risk the ridicule of two landing fees? I seriously doubt it.

If my overhaul is completed it would be a good flight to help break-in my factory reman. Just dropped the check to get my new engine shipped from TCM... so I'm optimistic we can have it airworthy by the 20th.

    I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'll be there via one mode of transportation or another!

Sorry I'm such a stranger these days - I took a 6 month break from flying and have been absorbed by work, parenting, RC flying, keyboards and (some) guitar. I'm way out of currency to say the least, but I may try to remedy that next weekend.
