Y'know, all I wanted to do was brag, in a slightly silly (and truthful) way that I finally made up for not being able to afford to get her an engagement ring 16 years ago (she does, however, have an engagement fish). Never thought it would go this far.

BTW, she wears a Shue (spelling?) full face helmet, gloves, chaps (and jeans, you comedians!), and armored jacket when she rides. She also has heated gear for the cold days.

Speaking of heated gear, she found that if she cut Therma-Care neck and shoulder pads (the self-heating ones), they fit perfectly in her boots.

It takes real courage to admit you're afraid.

Sus, the correct spelling is Shoei, they're good helmets.

I'm in the group that says you need to have riding gear on at all times. At a minimum a helmet, but preferably a full-face helmet. Yeah, they're a bit hotter in warm weather, but it beats having a mangled face for the rest of your life because you lost it going around a corner.

I think gloves, an armored (or at least a leather) jacket are mandatory. So are pants, even if they're jeans, don't ride in shorts. Shoes are also mandatory, no sandals or flip-flops. Eye protection is a must, too, if you don't have a visored helmet.

Too many people think they are "better riders" than the average guy and end up eating pavement. I bet 95%+ of the guys who've dropped the bike started wearing or have kept wearing their safety gear from that point forward.
In general, though, the design of the nut that connects the yoke and the seat has proven to be the critical factor in flight safety.

    I ride ATGATT

All the gear all the time.

To most people who ride ATGATT, that means full-face helmet, jacket with armor in elbows/shoulders/back and abrasion-resistant material, overpants with armored knees and abrasion-resistant material, leather gloves with armor or padding on knuckles, boots that cover the ankles (preferably with armored shin).

    one example of ATGATT

Good point. Actually, Right Brain's (this is how I plan to refer to my wife from now on -those of you that get it, get it - but it is a compliment) jacket has reflective material woven in - I didn't even think about it 'til now.
